Exchange Alley Animation

'The Bubble Tree'

Company: Butch Auntie
Client: London Arts Council

A continuously looped animation projected in an historic site known as 'Exchange Alley' in the heart of London. The film depicted the life cycle of a tree, slowly destroyed by its inhabitants as they scrabbled for increasingly bizzare (but historically accurate) commodities to trade on the precursor to the modern stock market. Their reckless trading caused what is known as 'The South Sea Bubble' and subsequent crash in the early 18th Century.

I was one of two Lead Animators on the project. Shown below are a selection of concept designs, props, sets and characters I created as part of the production.
